As I recently pointed out, Sun finally changed its license so that distros like Debian can include the Sun JRE. Thanks, Sun! Here's the command you need to run:
apt-get install sun-java5-jre sun-java5-plugin sun-java5-fonts sun-java5-bin
That'll do it, fair readers.

The Java files are in the unstable respository. I apt'd them in without a hitch.
This is some great news too. Not just because of the ease to install, but for the fact that linux is being recognized and considered enough to have companies make adjustments to their policies.

1. Tried this, but fails saying that it can't find the files. What repository are they on?
